What is the starter plan and how do I get it with Notta Memo?

This guide walks you through what the Starter Plan is, who can get it, how it works with your Notta Memo device, and what happens when your setup changes.

1. Overview — What is the starter plan?

The Starter Plan is a free membership automatically granted to eligible users who bind a Notta Memo device via the Notta mobile app.

  • 300 transcription minutes per month
  • Non-purchasable — only available through Memo binding
  • Treated as a Free-tier plan, allowing for downgrades from a paid plan to the Starter Plan, and upgrades from the Starter Plan to a paid plan.
  • Access to all features of the Pro Plan within the available limits:

Note: Binding must be done via the Notta App (iOS or Android). The web version does not support this process.

 

2. Eligibility — Who can get the starter plan?

Not all users who bind a Memo device will receive the Starter Plan. Please check the table below:

Binding will add an extra 300 minutes of transcription time to your Pro plan.

Owner of a business plan workspace ❌ No You keep your paid plan(pro or business plan)

*If you're only part of a company- or team-managed workspace and don't own one yourself, the Starter Plan will not be issued.

3. Activation & Usage — How it works

binding your memo device

  • One Memo device can be bound to only one Notta account
  • One account can bind multiple Memo devices
  • Devices work in any workspace tied to your account
  • Recordings are saved to the currently active workspace


Starter plan activation

After successful binding, eligible users will:

  • Be prompted to select a workspace to receive the Starter Plan
  • Get instant access to the plan within that workspace
  • Receive 300 minutes per month while the binding remains active

Note:Each workspace can have only one Starter Plan. Binding more devices refreshes the plan's validity — it does not add more minutes.


Unbinding a device

  • If you unbind your Memo, the Starter Plan is immediately revoked
  • Your account will revert to the Free Plan, unless you have an active subscription
  • You may regain the Starter Plan by rebinding a device, provided you still meet the eligibility requirements

Note: A “Free user” refers to accounts that only have Free or Starter Plan workspaces.

4. Managing plans — upgrades, validity & changes

Upgrade options

  • Pro Plan – 1,800 minutes/month
  • Business Plan – Unlimited transcription

Upgrades are effective immediately and remaining Starter days are prorated. Downgrades take effect after your current plan ends.

Note: Plan changes are allowed across platforms (iOS/Android ↔︎ Pro, Web ↔︎ Pro or Business).


Monthly reset & plan validity

  • The 300 transcription minutes reset every month
  • There is no expiration unless:
    • You unbind the Memo
    • You upgrade to a paid plan
  • If policies change, users will be notified in advance

Does the Starter plan support add-on purchases?

We apologize for the inconvenience, but add-ons cannot be purchased on the Starter plan.

While the Starter plan allows you to try out features equivalent to the Pro plan, it does not support the additional purchase of add-on features. If you wish to purchase add-ons, you will need to upgrade to one of the following paid plans.

- Premium Plan (Annual/Monthly)

- Business Plan (Annual/Monthly)
