This guide explains how your recordings behave and sync depending on whether your Notta Memo is connected to the Notta App. It also covers how to connect your device, sync recordings, and manage your files.
1. What happens when I record with Notta Memo?
Recording behavior depends on whether Notta Memo is connected to the Notta App via Bluetooth:
When connected to the Notta App (Bluetooth on)
- Audio is streamed in real time to the Notta App.
- You can access live transcription and real-time translation.
- Ideal for live events, lectures, or interviews.
Note: What Happens If Bluetooth Disconnects During Recording?
If you're recording in real time and Bluetooth disconnects:
- The recording will automatically stop.
- Memo will switch to offline local recording after a 3-second delay to avoid losing any content.
When not connected to the App (Bluetooth off)
- Audio is recorded and stored locally on the Memo device.
- Memo has 32GB of internal storage, allowing you to record even without a connection.
- Once reconnected, recordings are automatically synced to the Notta App.
2. How to sync recordings to the App
Warning: If you unbind your Notta Memo from your Notta account during synchronization, all data within Notta Memo will be cleared, and it will be reset to its factory settings.
🔁 Automatic sync via Bluetooth
- When Notta Memo reconnects to the app, it automatically sends a list of unsynced files to the Notta App.
- You can select files to sync, and they will be transferred via Bluetooth.
- Syncing will not interrupt ongoing recordings.
⚡ Optional: Wi-Fi transfer for faster sync
- On the file sync screen in the Notta App, you can switch to Wi-Fi transfer for quicker uploads, especially for large or multiple recordings.
🧹 Automatic cleanup after sync
- After syncing is complete, the corresponding audio files are automatically deleted from Notta Memo to free up space.
- This ensures that Memo’s 32GB storage remains available for new recordings.
3. Can I delete recordings from Memo?
- Before syncing: You cannot delete recordings directly from Memo.
- After syncing: You can delete recordings from the Notta App interface.
4. File security & device management
Notta Memo is designed with enterprise use and data protection in mind. If your organization is considering adopting recording devices, here are the key security features:
- Account Binding: Once a Notta Memo device is paired with a Notta account, it can only transfer data to that specific logged-in account. It cannot be used with any other account unless unbound from the original.
- Secure Architecture: Notta Memo is designed to transfer all recordings to the Notta App, where data is securely stored and processed. There is no external access to local files via USB or SD card.
- Lost or Stolen Devices: If a Notta Memo device is lost or stolen, audio files cannot be extracted from the device by unauthorized users. This makes it highly secure for corporate and confidential recording scenarios.
