How is a member's data handled when they leave?

Ways a member can leave a workspace

A member may leave a collaborative workspace in one of the following ways:

(A) The member deletes their account.

(B) The workspace owner or admins remove the member from the workspace.

How a member's data is handled after leaving

Below is an overview of how a departing member's data is handled.

  • Data ownership
When a member deletes their account or leaves a workspace, all of their resources—including recordings and folders—are automatically transferred to the workspace owner. Ownership of these resources cannot be reassigned to another member.

  • Access permissions
Any existing access permissions remain unchanged. Members who already had access to the data can continue using it as usual.
The workspace owner can also grant access permissions to other members who did not previously have access, allowing them to view or edit the data as needed.

  • When re-inviting a departing member
If a departing member is later re-invited to the workspace, they will be treated as a new user. Ownership of any data they created before leaving cannot be restored.
However, the workspace owner or any member with full access can grant access permissions to them again if necessary.
