Usage calculation rules for Notta features

In Notta, transcription time and usage quotas are consumed by specific features. This article provides a clear guide on the calculation and consumption rules for each feature.

Usage calculation rules

Transcription
Applicable Features: Instant record, Upload & transcribe, Record online meeting, Record screen, Google Chrome extension, Re-transcription, Translation (after transcription)

Consumption Rules

  • Calculated by total audio duration:

Usage is calculated based on the full duration of the uploaded audio file, including silent sections. It is not calculated based only on speaking time.

  • Rounded up to the nearest minute:
Any duration less than one minute is rounded up.

Example: A recording of 15 minutes and 13 seconds will consume 16 minutes.
  • Consumption for translation and re-transcription:
Performing "Translation" or "Re-transcription" on an existing transcript will consume an amount of transcription time equal to the original audio duration.

    Example: Translating a 16-minute recording ➡ Initial transcription (16 min) + Translation (16 min) = 32 minutes total consumed.
File Import
Applicable Features: Upload feature, Re-transcription

Consumption Rules

Each file uploaded consumes 1 quota unit of your import allowance.

*Note: After a file is imported, a transcription process is automatically triggered, which also consumes "transcription time" based on the audio length.

AI Summary
Applicable Features: AI Notes (including Regeneration), Automation (Auto Summary)

Consumption Rules

  • 1 quota unit is consumed for every successful summary generation, including initial generation, regeneration, and summaries triggered automatically.
  • Deleting a generated summary does not restore the consumed quota.
Monolingual Real-time Translation / Bilingual Transcription & Translation
Applicable Features: Monolingual real-time translation, Bilingual transcription & translation

Consumption Rules

1 use is consumed for every record created where "Monolingual real-time translation" or "Bilingual transcription & translation" is enabled.

*Note: Because real-time translation involves simultaneous transcription, "transcription time" will also be consumed based on the duration of the recording.

How to check usage and reset dates?

Quota reset timing

The reset timing depends on your plan type and subscription status.

General Reset Rules
  • Free Plan: Quotas reset monthly on the same day and time as your account registration.
  • Paid Plans (Pro/Business): Quotas reset monthly on the same day and time as your initial purchase.

➡ Example: If you registered or purchased on Jan 1st at 12:00, your quota will reset on the 1st of every month at 12:00.

Registrations/Purchases at Month-End

If the registration or purchase occurs on the last day of a month and the following month is shorter, the reset will occur on the closest available day.

➡ Example: If purchased on Jan 31st at 12:00, it resets on Feb 28th (or 29th) at 12:00. Subsequent resets will continue to occur on the last day of each month (March 31st, April 30th, etc.).

For Trial Users

When upgrading from a trial to a paid plan, the reset date is determined by the start date of the paid subscription, not the trial start date.

➡ Example: If you start a 7-day trial on Jan 1st and upgrade to a paid plan on Jan 8th, your reset date will be the 8th of every month.
