Summarize YouTube videos with the Chrome extension

With the Notta extension, you can generate and view summaries directly while watching, eliminating the need to switch back to the Notta dashboard.

Prerequisites for using this feature
Plan: Available on all plans
Role: Available to all roles
Platform: Notta Web (Chrome browser with the extension installed)

Summarization workflow

  1. Install the Chrome extension and log in to Notta.
  2. Open the YouTube video you want to summarize in Google Chrome.
  3. The Notta summary panel will appear next to the video. Click Summarize Video. It may take some time to generate the summary. Please stay on this page until the process is complete.

  4. Once the summary is ready, it will be displayed in the Notta summary panel.

  5. The summary is also saved to your Notta workspace as a record with the same title as the YouTube video. You can review the summary anytime from the record detail page.

Notes:

  • The summary language must match the language of the video.
  • Closed captions must be available for the video, but whether they are turned on or off will not affect the summarization.
  • Using this feature consumes AI Notes credits.

Show or hide the summary panel

  1. Click the gear icon in the upper-right corner of the Notta extension.

  2. In the settings screen, turn on YouTube Summary to show the summary panel next to the video. Turn it off to hide the panel.
