Notta's recording and transcription features require an internet connection. This article explains why you can't use these features offline and provides tips for recording when your network connection is poor.
Notta's network requirements for recording and transcription
Notta's recording and transcription features require your audio recordings to be uploaded to our servers for processing, with the transcription results returned to you in real-time or in segments. Therefore, these features demand a stable and fast internet connection.
You might encounter issues with recording and transcription in the following situations:
- No internet connection: The mobile app cannot upload recordings to the server, making transcription impossible.
- Weak or unstable network signal: A poor network connection can lead to slow recording uploads, potentially causing delays in receiving transcription results, interruptions during transcription, or even no results at all.
Tips for recording when your network Is poor
If your network connection is unstable or you're in an offline environment but need to record, we recommend the following methods:
-
Use your phone's built-in recording feature first
In situations with poor network conditions, please use your smartphone's (e.g., iPhone, Android) built-in recording app first. These apps typically work offline, ensuring your audio content is fully captured. -
Use Notta's Upload & transcribe feature once you have a network connection
After you return to an environment with a stable internet connection, you can import the file recorded with your phone's built-in recording app into Notta and use the Upload & transcribe feature. This allows you to both ensure smooth recording and utilize Notta's transcription service.
