Switch recording modes and start recording on Notta Memo

Notta Memo offers two recording modes designed for different types of conversations. This guide covers how each mode works and how to switch between them on your device.

Using Notta Memo Pro?
Notta Memo Pro also supports both recording modes, but switches between them automatically—no manual switching is required.

Available recording modes

Choose between two recording modes based on your needs: In-Person Recording Mode and Call Recording Mode.

Feature In-Person Recording Mode Call Recording Mode (Default)
Best For Face-to-face conversations, 1-on-1s, and small meetings Phone and virtual/online calls
(Captures both sides of the call)
Slider Position Red mark hidden Red mark visible
Notes
  • Keep the device at a reasonable distance from the speaker.
  • Do not block the microphones to ensure clear audio capture.
  • Attach the device flush against the back of your phone.
  • Do not use headphones, as audio played through them cannot be recorded.

How to switch recording modes

To switch modes, move the physical slider on your Notta Memo.

How mode switching works:

  • During an active recording: The current recording will end and save. After about 3 seconds, a new session will start automatically in the newly selected mode (you'll also see an in-app notice).
  • While not recording: The new mode will automatically apply to your next recording.
Real-time App Sync:
When paired via Bluetooth, mode changes made on the device update instantly in the Notta app.
