Why can’t record the meeting audio played from my speakers?

When using Notta's Instant record feature to record an online meeting where the audio is played through your speakers, you may notice that only your voice is recorded, while other participants' voices are missing during playback. This article explains the reasons behind this issue and provides solutions.

Note: Before investigating this issue, ensure that the audio coming from your speakers is being picked up by your microphone.

Cause of the issue

Due to browser privacy restrictions, audio sharing between different tabs or windows within the same browser may be blocked. This can prevent Notta from properly recognizing and recording the audio from your online meeting page.

Solutions

To avoid this problem, please try one of the following methods:

  1. Open Notta and the meeting page in separate browsers
For example, open Notta in Google Chrome and the online meeting page in a different browser like Microsoft Edge or Safari, then start recording.

  2. Use the desktop version of the meeting software
Install and use the desktop application of your online meeting software (e.g., Zoom, Google Meet). Desktop versions are less affected by browser privacy restrictions, which can lead to more reliable audio recording.

  3. Use the Notta app on your smartphone or tablet
While playing the meeting audio on your computer, use the Instant record feature in the Notta app.

  4. Use the Record online meeting or Record screen features
The Record online meeting feature allows you to invite the Notta bot directly to your meeting to record the audio.
The Record screen feature can record audio from your browser tab.
*With these features, it's not necessary to play the meeting audio through your speakers.
